Over 38 thousand<\/strong>\nvisitors attended the four days of the 29th<\/sup> Fishing, Hunting and\nArms International Exhibition (FeHoVa) at the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and\nExhibition Center. This far surpassed last year\u2019s visitor numbers; it seems\nthat the society of hunters and anglers has returned to its previous level of operations\nafter the more than two year-long pandemic period. Exhibitors attended the event from a range of\ndifferent countries, including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, South\nAfrica, Poland, Namibia, Italy, Pakistan and Slovakia. There\nwere a great number of foreign visitors at the event \u2013 this was partly due to\nthe 10th<\/sup> anniversary FeHoVa-MEOESZ International Winterdogshow\n(CAC, CACIB) hosted concurrently with FeHoVa. This year, FeHoVa events took\nplace in four separate pavilions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the opening ceremony, G\u00e1bor\nGanczer, CEO of Hungexpo<\/strong> stressed that FeHoVa has underwent enormous\nchanges over its three decade-long history. \u201cIt\u2019s important to appreciate how\nlong we have come as well as consider the direction we\u2019re headed in and all the\nchanges this requires!\u201d said the Chief Executive Officer. He added that FeHoVa\nwas one of the key milestones for Hungexpo and that \u201cwe will continue working\nto make sure this key gathering of the Carpathian Basin is hosted at a site\nworthy of its status.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his welcoming words, Deputy Prime\nMinister<\/strong> Zsolt Semj\u00e9n<\/strong> mentioned the laws on arms and hunting as two\nof the most important issues of the hunting community. The arms law is\nrealistic and reasonable, while the Hungarian law on hunting is the best in the\nworld, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Agriculture Istv\u00e1n Nagy<\/strong> stressed that the conservation of Earth\u2019s biodiversity is of the utmost\nimportance. Apart from providing for the protection of endangered species, this\nalso includes the management of species that can be hunted. The wildlife\nmanagement sector has faced a number of challenges, including the coronavirus\npandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as well as the negative impact of EU\nsanctions. The decrease in income from foreign hunters, the weakening of the game\nmeat market, the loss in revenue due to African swine fever and last year\u2019s\nextreme drought have all impeded the sector, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attractions \u2013 Tremendous Interest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For yet another year, hunters and nature-lovers\nalike had the chance to attend numerous professional and general audience\nevents at HUNGEXPO\u2019s largest Pavilion A, including trophy demonstrations and\ntrophy evaluations, roundtable discussions, screenings and travelogues. The\ncollection of Hungarian big game trophies from the hunting seasons of 2020-2022\nattracted a large number of visitors, along with the Nadler Trophy Review, the\ncollection of the works of graphic designer Andr\u00e1s Szunyoghy entitled \u201cAnatomical\nStudies of Wild Animals\u201d as well as the \u201cWildlife in Action\u201d diorama. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charity auction hosted for the first time at\nFeHoVa also proved to be highly successful. B\u00e9la Hidv\u00e9gi auctioned off his\npersonal belongings \u2013 all of which were sold at the exhibition. All proceeds\nfrom the auction support the wildlife protection and educational programmes of\nVad\u00e1sztr\u00f3fea Alap\u00edtv\u00e1ny (Hunting Trophy Foundation). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditionally hosted at the FeHoVa exhibition,\nthe 11th<\/sup> FeHoVa Cup International Troating Competition attracted less\ncompetitors than usual, yet the competition was still a big success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anglers and those interested in aquatic wildlife\ncould choose from a wide range of attractions. As customary, demonstrations\nwere hosted in two pools this year: the baitboat tests and the so-called \u201clure\npresentations\u201d attracted a large number of attendees. Visitors could admire a\nwide range of freshwater fish in realistic surroundings similar to their\nnatural habitats in the over 22 thousand litre giant aquarium.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The angler stage hosted a number of famous\nHungarian recreational anglers sharing their experiences, including P\u00e9ter Bak\u00f3,\nB\u00e1lint Horv\u00e1th, Krist\u00f3f Raffer and Viktor Veegh. Visitors also had the chance\nto attend a discussion with two-time world champion Bence Szab\u00f3 entitled\nDefending the Title at the FreeStyle Method Feeder World Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 10th<\/sup> anniversary FeHoVa-MEOESZ\nInternational Dog Show (CAC, CACIB) took place concurrently with FeHoVa in two\npavilions, hosting the competition of thousands of dogs and their owners from\n20 different countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, FeHoVa\nalso had the opportunity to host a competition organised by Suzuki: visitors had\nthe possibility of entering two competitions at the brand\u2019s stand. Hunters and\nanglers interested in purchasing SUVs as well as the families of visitors had the\nchance to win two main prizes – a week-long test drive with the Suzuki Jimny or\nS-CROSS models. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
