As in past years, this year\u2019s FeHoVa was a huge success. More than 55,000 visitors were interested in the Carpathian Basin’s most prominent fishing, hunting and arms event at the HUNGEXPO Budapest Fair Center, where 17 countries and nearly 300 exhibitors brought their portfolios. At the opening of the exhibition they signed the \u201cOne with nature\u201d cooperation agreement of the World Hunting and Nature Expo 2021 (Hunting World Exhibition) and have announced that Hungexpo will be renovated for around 50 billion forints in the coming years. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Held between February 7 and 10, FeHoVa was again the traditional \nseason opening event for hunters and anglers, to which the most \nimportant manufacturers and distributors had brought their new \ndevelopments. Hunters, anglers and tens of thousands of \nnature-enthusiasts could try the newest tools and could meet the \ndistinguished experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Novelty: the Taxidermist Competition <\/strong>
\nThe organizers were awaiting the visitors with a number of novelties.<\/strong>\n In addition to the traditional trophy exhibition they presented \n\u201cRarities of the Continents\u201d an exhibition of rare and unique game \nspecies from all over the world.
\nCarried out in cooperation with the Magyar Vad\u00e1szlap and the ETC (European Taxidermy Championships), the first ever I. FeHoVa International Open Taxidermy Championship<\/strong> was a huge success. An international jury evaluated the projects of the 40 competitors at the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great interest was shown in the Hunting Horn Festival, the giant carp\n show at the Aquarium, state-owned forestry companies presenting their \nhunting and trekking grounds, the spectacular hunting dog breed and work\n show, the falconry show and the gastronomy presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors could listen to presentations by acclaimed foreign and local\n sport fishermen on the stages, and, of course, this years FeHoVa Cup \nInternational Troating Competition, which was the 8th of its kind on the\n hunting stage. Always popular with the crowds, it was shoulder to \nshoulder in the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizers thought of the children too: organized by MOHOSZ, \nthere were again a large number of participants in this year\u2019s angling \nschool teaching program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One visitor to the 26th FeHoVa was the widow of earl Zsigmond \nSz\u00e9chenyi, a traveler in Africa and hunter-writer, 93-year-old Margit \nHertelendy, who, together with the visitors, watched parts of the grand \nnature documentary that was made for the 120th anniversary of the \nhunter-earl\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They organized the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS\u00ae<\/sup> SERIES competitive \nlogging competition and show, along with the 7th FEHOVA-MEOESZ \nInternational Dog show at the same time as the exhibition at the \nHUNGEXPO Budapest Fair Center.  <\/p>\n\n\n

Goal: world class <\/strong>
\nTo restore Hungarian hunting, game management and hunting culture to its\n former glory, and for Hungary to become a hunting super power, \nimportant steps must be taken, said Zsolt<\/strong> Semj\u00e9n, <\/strong>the\n Deputy Prime Minister at the opening of the 26th FeHoVa opening \nceremony. As examples he mentioned the rationalization of the weapons \nact, strengthening the role of the Hungarian Hunters\u2019 Chamber, along \nwith setting up a game management fund of several billion forints. In \nregards to the Hunting World Exhibition being held in Hungary, the \nDeputy Prime Minister announced that they have registered the project \ncompanies responsible for organizing the exhibition in Hungary.
\nZolt\u00e1n Kov\u00e1cs<\/strong>, Government Commissioner, added that the \ngovernment has earmarked nearly 50 billion forints to renovate the \nentire area of Hungexpo, which will grant the infrastructural and \nlogistical foundations for international and world class events, such as\n 2021\u2019s Hunting World Exhibition and 2020\u2019s Eucharistic Congress.
\nMinister of Agriculture Istv\u00e1n Nagy<\/strong> emphasized at the \nevent: hunting and angling are an important part of Hungarian tradition \nthat not only provide relaxation and sport possibilities but fulfill a \nserious professional and economic function too. The cabinet head \nhighlighted: the Ministry of Agriculture supports sustainable hunting by\n all means. Among other reasons, this was why they introduced policies \nthat will make it possible to modify regional boundaries.
\nG\u00e1bor Ganczer, <\/strong>Chief Executive Officer of Hungexpo, \nemphasized the tightly woven community, saying: there are few \ncommunities as cohesive as the hunters and anglers, both forged together\n by passion – the director explained.
\nAt the opening of the exhibition they signed the \u201cOne with nature\u201d \ncooperation agreement of the World Hunting and Nature Expo (Hunting \nWorld Exhibition), which will be organized by Hungary in 2021 according \nto the plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decreasing tension in agricultural and game management<\/strong>
\nThe exhibition also hosted a number of professional discussions. Among \nthem, the conference on the current issues of game management, organized\n by the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture, stood out. During this, among \nothers, they talked about how introducing the new game damage assessment\n protocol may lead to balanced wildlife management. With this, the \ndisorganized relationship of farmers and game managers could be placed \nwithin a legislative framework – said Minister of State for Land Affairs\n M\u00e1rton Bitay. At the same place Bal\u00e1zs Gy\u0151rffy, Director of NAK \n(Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture), said it is of utmost importance that\n all parties concerned focus on the prevention of wildlife damage in \norder to reduce and manage tensions. Regarding this, results can only be\n achieved through co-operation, continuous contact and mutual sharing of\n information, which is a duty for both parties under the new hunting \nlaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The audience also received information on how the appearance of the African swine fever virus affects local hunting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
