Nearly 50 thousand visitors attended the recently concluded 38th CONSTRUMA homemaking exhibition. 600 exhibitors from 20 countries presented their novelties at the top domestic construction industry event at the Hungexpo Budapest Fair Center. Apart from the CONSTRUMA and HOMEDesign exhibitions, the event in 2019 featured the bi-annual HUNGAROTHERM as part of the assortment of exhibitions, allowing professional visitors to gain an even wider base of information on novelties. Participants of the professional events tied to the exhibition discussed the rapid growth of the industry alongside labour shortage-related issues.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Every year, Hungexpo places a great deal of emphasis on the \nprofessional advancement of construction industry experts. Accordingly, \nwith the assistance of its professional partners, it features a number \nof conferences and workshops for CONSTRUMA<\/a><\/strong>\n visitors that deal with the latest trends, technological innovations \nand current professional issues. The first three days of the event were \nagain devoted solely to the professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Record Turnover in Hungarian construction industry with Problems to be Resolved<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Over the last two years, the Hungarian construction industry provided\n an outstanding performance with the sector\u2019s output showing an overall \nincrease of 56 percent \u2013 said Minister of State for Economic Strategy \nand Regulation L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Gy\u00f6rgy <\/strong>of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology<\/strong>\n (ITM), adding that for the period between 2018 and 2023, the \nconstruction industry\u2019s stock of orders amount to HUF 25 thousand \nbillion. In order to ensure the steady level of results, the State \nSecretariat prepared a construction economy strategy with the \ninvolvement of professional organisations \u2013 the National Federation of \nHungarian Building Contractors (\u00c9VOSZ) and the National Association of \nEntrepreneurs and Employers \u2013 which the government is set to discuss in \nthe month of April, added the State Secretary. One of the key elements \nof the strategy is the tender for the technological modernization of the\n construction industry, through which the government provided grants of \nHUF 16 billion for expanding the capacities of small and mid-size \nenterprises. The call for bids is anticipated to continue through the \nmonth of April with an additional allocation of HUF 6 billion, added the\n State Secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum taking place on the opening day of the exhibition, \nencompassing the entire construction industry, was hosted by \u00c9VOSZ, the \nMinistry for Innovation and Technology and the Budapest Chamber of \nCommerce and Industry. At the conference entitled Opportunities of the Construction Economy,<\/em> President of \u00c9VOSZ L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Koji<\/strong>\n explained, amongst other things, that over a ten-year period, 150 \nthousand fewer new apartments were built than necessary and this \nshortcoming has to be rectified over the next 15 years while the \nconstruction industry also accommodates the newly arising needs. The \ngreatest challenge is the lack of professionals and capacities compared \nto the number of orders. This was also confirmed by President of the Industrial Department of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zsolt Zsabka<\/strong>,\n who explained that currently, the greatest issue is not so much the \nquality, but rather the actual completion of the works. All in \nattendance agreed that over the next one to two years, the construction \nindustry will show a growth of around 15 percent, in which the ratio of \nthe currently dominant state, as well as industrial and private orders \nmay change over time.<\/p>\n\n\n

A Gathering of the Profession<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As customary, the HUNGAROTHERM<\/strong><\/a>\n building engineering trade exhibition is the bi-annual member of the \nConstruma assortment of exhibitions, which was now organised on the \ntenth occasion. This year, the event focused on ventilation technology \nand renewable energy. On this occasion, this branch of building \nengineering yielded the greatest number of exhibitors. There is a \ncontinuous need for skilled professionals, therefore the exhibition \nincluded a number of workshop lectures and practical training sessions \u2013\n including, for example, solar panel installation demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a great deal of interest in the ECO HOME<\/strong> and SMART CITY<\/strong> conference hosted at the HUNGAROTHERM<\/strong><\/a> exhibition,\n where lecturers presented feasible and completed projects in Hungary in\n the field of efficient energy use and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the opening day of the CONSTRUMA<\/a><\/strong>\n assortment of exhibitions, State Secretary for Sustainability Bal\u00e1zs \nWeingartner of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology (ITM) \nannounced at the ECO CITY demo house that the convector-replacement \nscheme of the Otthon melege (Warmth of Home) program will be continued \nwith an allocation of HUF 2 billion, allowing entrants to submit their \ntenders throughout the country from 20 May. The State Secretary \nemphasized that tenders can be submitted through the sub-scheme for the \nreplacement of convectors as well as the modernization of complete \nheating systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the architect and engineer advanced training sessions, \nthis year the greatest crowds were attracted by the conference featuring\n the novelties of the Frankfurt ISH <\/strong>trade fair (the \nworld\u2019s leading building engineering trade exhibition). The conference \nfeaturing the novelties and future trends presented at one of the most \nsignificant trade fairs of building services engineering in the world \nwas attended by a great number of professionals from all points of the \ncountry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshops hosted at the stands, presenting a particular technique\n or field of expertise, were highly popular features. One of the most \nfrequented of these was the Wood Like <\/strong>event hosted at the HOMEDesign<\/a><\/strong>\n exhibition staged by the Furniture Association, where visitors were \ntransformed into craftsmen in a well-equipped woodworking workshop for a\n few hours. For years, the goal of the Association has been to establish\n a series of events that mobilizes the entire wood industry. This \nincluded the Wood Like event, the Green Furniture exhibition as well as \nthe Innowood<\/strong> demonstration. The Association again hosted its annual gathering and professional conference at the exhibition, entitled Sustainability and Green Solutions in the Wood Industry<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The professional conference tied to CONSTRUMA Garden<\/strong><\/a> was the GREEN CITY<\/strong>\n event, where international speakers presented the latest trends of \ngarden design and landscaping. The conference also accommodated the \naward ceremony of the 9th<\/sup> Hungarian Landscaping Competition and Show which was held during the exhibition with the support of Agr\u00e1rmarketing Centrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend was all about the general audience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, the last two days of the CONSTRUMA<\/a><\/strong>\n assortment of exhibitions was devoted to general audience events. Tens \nof thousands of visitors attended the stands of exhibitors, where they \nhad a chance to survey and try a range of novelties in practice. Just as\n last year, it was obvious this year that visitors come to the \nexhibition fully prepared and purposely seek out free counselling which \nfacilitates and aids construction work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors had a chance to encounter the latest works of young Hungarian designers at the HUNGARIAN DESIGN 2019<\/strong>\n stands. The artists in question simultaneously represent the ethos of \ncurrent trends while providing tangible products, which are often \navailable for purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Green Furniture \u2013 Sustainable Domestic Furniture Manufacturing <\/strong>exhibition\n presented successful domestic brands and the furniture product of \nHungarian designers who are devoted to sustainable development while \nbuilding their brands, considering their ecological footprint in every \nstep of the design process, including its impact on the community and \nenvironment, as well as the long-term consequences of their actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the spectacular features of this year\u2019s exhibition was the \nDESIGN \u2013GENERATIONS stand, where two interiors of identical floor area \npresented interior design ideas for different target groups. The START \nUP interior created by the National Association of Interior Designers \nwas made for a young couple settling in for an urban lifestyle, with the\n sensation of freedom, playfulness, a laidback attitude and a youthful, \nurban style as important considerations \u2013 which are to be achieved in a \ncost-effective manner. The LUX UP interior was a flat created for a \nmiddle-aged couple with an elegant, representative, lasting design. \nAccording to the intentions of the organizers, the two interiors \nprovided visitors with a range of ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EcoCity<\/strong> demo house also had high attendance, \nwhere could receive practical answers on innovative solutions for near \nnet-zero energy use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An intrinsic element of the assortment of exhibitions was CONSTRUMA Garden<\/strong><\/a>,\n featuring landscaping devices and appliances, free garden design and \nornamental plant care counselling, as well as serving as a source of new\n inspiration at the spectacular stands of the 9th<\/sup> Hungarian Landscaping Competition and Show, which were realized through the support of Agr\u00e1rmarketing Centrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
